Description
A member of the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP), I am a registered provisional psychologist with 11 years of clinical experience. Over the course of my career, I have worked with over 3,500 clients and conducted over 11,000 hours of clinical practice. Since becoming a mental health professional, I have learned the key role of personal transformative experiences in understanding human nature. Just as I assist my clients on a path of self-discovery and development, I take time to learn more about myself. In addition to being a student of Eastern psychology, I strive to continue learning about recent psychological developments and I continuously engage in self-reflection to encourage my professional development.
My practice is guided by the principles of humanistic psychology, evolutionary psychology, and cognitive-behavioural therapy. Over the course of my career, I have learned that while the stories told change, the lessons learned are the same. Indeed, while our experiences are unique, the lessons we must learn and the discipline we must embody to undo past conditioning, have sound relationships, and actualize our human potential come down to our undivided individuality and shared humanity. Thus, based on the life lessons I have learned and have helped others understand, I am able to provide clients insights into behavioural habits, emotional reactions and thought patterns that entrap them.
By making clear observations, providing timely insights and exposing open wounds, I help clients recognize the causes for the difficult situations they are dealing with and the reasons for the problems they are facing. Often, our minds try to protect us from the harshness of reality by projecting a pseudo-reality that is more a reflection of how we want to be perceived by another than how we exist in reality. As a result, we unmistakably miss the gift we are! However, just as much as the physical body needs to be grounded in reality in order to heal and function optimally, the mind requires facts to be silent and think clearly. Therefore, a common session goal is to distinguish fact from fiction and your current reality from the one your mind may be projecting for you. At the end of the day, I intend to assist clients in recognizing their human potential and point them toward the tools they may need to embody what they can be.
