Blu Teck Concrete Ltd. is a registered Alberta corporation and is fully insured for your security and peace of mind. We offer a variety of residential and commercial services with a variety of finishes (i.e. broomed, exposed aggregate, stamped, acid stained etc..) Our residential services include driveways, patios, sidewalks, garage pads, fire pit areas, quonsets, self levelling and concrete sealing. Our commerical services include trenches and blueprint specific concrete work. PREPARATION WORK Blu Teck Concrete takes care of all the preparation work for your new concrete project. We breakout and remove the old concrete, excavate existing soil/gravel and remove all material as required. To provide a stable base for your concrete project we apply a base of road crush (gravel) which is tamped with a vibrating plate tamper for proper compaction. We then build the forms for your new concrete ensuring proper elevations & sloping for water drainage. Once the form construction is complete, we pour and finish the concrete to your specified finish. FINISHES Broom Finishes This finish is the least expensive concrete finish and is most commonly used for concrete stairs, walkways and patios for a superior and simple finish. Once the concrete has been poured, its surface is lightly broomed to provide a slightly roughened surface for better traction, especially when wet. The concrete can also be coloured. Our concrete supplier offers a wide variety of colours which are mixed with the concrete at the plant prior to delivery. Adding the colour during the mixing process provides uniform tinting and consistent results throughout the concrete. Exposed Aggregate Finishes When the concrete is poured a surface ‘Retarder’ is sprayed on the surface. The surface cement is later washed and brushed away to expose the aggregates in the concrete mix. The concrete itself can be coloured and a clear or coloured sealer is applied following exposure of the aggregates. Exposed aggregate is a classy, low maintainance finish and is easy to maintain. It can also be used as an accent in more complex finishes where a Broomed or Stamped finish is surrounding it. Stamped Concrete Patterns are imprinted on the poured concrete to provide a textured surface or one that resembles brick, tiles, slate, etc. The imprinting process utilizes mats that are pressed onto the poured concrete. The customer has a wide variety of stamp choices as well as colors for the concrete itself and a powder release used to prevent the rubber stamp from sticking to the concrete. The stamping process can also be used with other finishes. For example, you can have stamped accent borders or center designs. Acid Staining Colour is bonded to the concrete surface through use of stains that chemically react with the concrete. The result is rich, complex textures. This is a very creative finishing process and its versatility can provide very artistic results. The depth of colour is enhanced through the application of a sealer.
