Preferred Personnel of Canada Inc. is an Edmonton, Alberta based company and was established in 1981 in response to a growing need for in-home nanny care. To date, we have worked with families from Victoria to Labrador, Hong Kong to Kenya, rural locations and highly remote areas of the North West Territories. There are many advantages to in-home nanny care. Unlike day home or daycare, you are actively involved in the interviewing and hiring, the scheduling of daily activities, meals prepared and served to your child, hygiene and rest periods. You choose the playmates, activities and outings your child is or is not involved in. You set the pace and tone; deciding on what you feel is emotionally and developmentally appropriate for your child. As light housekeeping, laundry and meal preparation are part of the services provided, your leisure time may be spent with family, rather than on housework and catch-up. Clients consistently comment during follow-up that their lives are more ordered; less stressful and that they finally have some much needed "quality time" with their children. Preferred offers a viable alternative for dual and single parent homes, and for those in rural and urban areas. We have live-in and live-out caregivers available on an immediate basis for full or part-time care. If your family would prefer to hire a candidate from overseas, we have an extensive file list from Saudi Arabia and Asia. We suggest you allow two to six weeks for interviewing local candidates and three to eight months for placement from abroad. All caregivers sign a one-year contract and most stay with their families for two to three years. A thorough screening process ensures that the caregiver chosen is more than capable of the required duties. Nannies must have a minimum of two years of previous paid full-time experience caring for non-family members. Most of our nannies exceed these base criteria and have upwards of seven to fifteen years of experience. We present you with an in-depth profile of each nanny providing a detailed overview of the nannies abilities and areas of interest. The employment history includes not only written but also verified references with current telephone numbers for past employers. Our caregivers must have valid Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Training, updated and re-certified if necessary, as well as a security clearance and child welfare check. If the caregiver is required to transport your child, a driver's abstract will also be obtained. Nannies are monitored at your request and unannounced home visits (spot checks) may be arranged. Should you need to contact us after business hours, Preferred will provide you with a 24-hour emergency number and email is responded to daily. Mediation and on-going support are not only part of the services we provide, but integral to the success of each placement and we encourage you to attend our office, with or without an appointment.
