In 1997, I lost my son Mason. He was born without an immune system, and diagnosed with S.C.I.D.S. (Severe Combined Immune Deficiency Syndrome) Through our fight, I made a promise to him that I would never quit fighting. It took me a long time to figure out what I could do to help with a cure in Mason's name. I volunteer with the Bereaved Parents Network of Guelph Wellington. Every year we have a Christmas Memorial in memory of our lost children. We all receive a taper candle to burn in memory of our child. The candle burning is always something I have looked forward to. So, not long ago I decided that I would make beautiful candles, and design "Mason's Candle". While they burn, it creates a calm and inner peace.
