A message from the president of the RCCAS
The Russian-Canadian Cultural Aid Society (RCCAS) was founded in 1950 as a non profit organization. It is run entirely by volunteers. The Society's mission is to promote and maintain rich Russian cultural traditions and help new immigrants integrate into the Canadian way of life. Concerts, lectures, folkdancing, drama club, chess club were some of the activities organized by RCCAS. The RCCAS participated in "Caravan" (a very popular Toronto festival) for 24 years! The name of its pavilion was Novgorod. Guests were greeted by princesses in traditional Boyar costumes and enjoyed lovely concerts as well as great food. In fact, Novgorod won the award for Best Food and Hospitality on numerous occasions. RCCAS continues to participate in cultural festivals in Toronto and the GTA, and to provide social and cultural support to Canadians of Russian origin. The Society welcomes all Canadians to participate in events, enjoy concerts, and various artistic performances and to experience the culture and traditions.
