Years ago, when AdFilms Ltd. was the Canadian rep for the Cannes International Advertising Film Festival, we organized hugely popular screenings of the World's Best Commercials. The most important lesson learned through this experience shaped our mandate as we evolved:
People don't dislike advertising. They dislike bad, unimaginative advertising. Any marketing we produce for the cinema environment needs to entertain. People attend movies to be entertained, and anything associated with that experience should offer the same allure. Our mandate is simple: to increase revenue for our partner cinemas. This is accomplished through merchandising efforts such as on-screen advertising and through promotions that simply put more 'bums in seats'.
