In 1990, Market Village was redeveloped by Cedarland Properties Ltd. to meet the changing demographics of the surrounding markets in Scarborough, Markham and Richmond Hill. Today, Market Village is one of the largest Chinese Shopping Centres in North America having some 300,000 sq.ft. of gross floor area and 150 stores and offices. The final expansion phrase of Market Village was completed in November of 1995 at which time the Centre was 325,000 sq.ft. with over 170 stores.
