To understand how this has truly impacted my life you need to understand how disabling my asthma was to begin with. I had been taking puffers since I was about 15 years old. It started out as exercise induced asthma, which was easy to control. As I got older, my asthma got worse. There were a few years of my life that I had a hard time walking let alone doing anything active. I'd take my inhalers regularly to provide me with short term relief. Whenever I was sick, puffers would do nothing. Waking up purple from lack of oxygen became normal for me. I would struggling for every breath everyday. I went to a specialist after having numerous doctors tell me that they couldn’t understand why I was unable to control my attacks. They decided to do a lung biopsy to test for other diseases. This came back as non-conclusive…which was a relief but frustrating at the same time. They told me the only thing that would keep me breathing would be prednisone. For anyone who knows about prednisone, you know the numerous side affects this drug offers. I gained about 40lbs in 2months and had never felt worse in my life…but I could breathe…for the most part. Being on prednisone completely destroys your immune system, so obviously I would get sick regularly. When I was sick, I couldn’t breathe. It was a viscous cycle, but one I had no choice in. There was a weekend I was home visiting my parents and, as usual, I was sick and struggling to breathe. My mom had seen me struggle, but not like this. She pleaded me to go to the hospital but I was fighting it because I had been earlier that day and didn’t want to go back. I assured her that I was fine because I had been through much worse. After a couple hours of begging, I agreed, to give her piece of mind. As usual when I got to the hospital they got me in right away and started me on the ventolin masks. After 10 masks they were getting worried because it wasn’t regulating my breathing like it should. After being there for a few hours they told me the only option at the time. They were going to put me into an induced coma and fly me to the Sudbury hospital so I could be put on a ventilator for a day or two to get it under control. So with no choice in the matter I was put out. I woke up 2 days later in the ICU in Sudbury. I had been on prednisone for 8 years…in my opinion that was about 7 ½ years too long. I was determined to find something to get myself off. I didn’t want to live on this drug for the rest of my life. I went to see a Naturopath who recommended taking a large variety of natural supplements as well as eliminating some foods from my diet. With her help I was able to reduce and finally eliminate prednisone from my life. This was a huge success in my life and having “normal asthma” was a welcomed change. So like other asthmatics I was taking my regular daily puffers as well as my ventolin for quick relief. I never in a million years imagined that one day I would be able to say that I am now off all my puffers as well. The man that introduced me to Zija came into my spa one day and asked me if I had ever heard of the Moringa Tree. I hadn’t so he gave me some literature and told me to do some research on the tree. So I did! I wasn’t expecting to get off my puffers but thought I would try it for overall health. Obviously I was hopeful it would help with my asthma, but I wasn’t about to get my hopes up.
