Jim always liked the idea of working with animals. When he was laid off after 13 years of employment, he started thinking seriously about a career in dog and cat grooming. Jim contacted the Eastern Passage Village Veterinary Clinic and, after about a month of job shadowing the clinic's groomer on a daily basis, he realized he'd found the career he truly wanted to pursue. Jim completed a four-month course at the Pretty Pooch Dog Grooming Academy in Moncton, N.B and received certification in all breeds of dog and cat grooming in August of 2007. After graduation, he was offered a position as a groomer with the Eastern Passage Village Veterinary Clinic. After working at the clinic for approximately two years, Jim officially opened his own pet grooming business in his home September 15, 2009. Jim's standards are high; each and every furry client is given one-on-one service, cutting down on the chaos that can result in anxiety for some animals - especially the more senior ones. Jim doesn't cage or kennel-dry the animals; all drying is done with stand dryers on the grooming table. Moms and Dads are welcome to stay and watch their babies being groomed and pampered. Jim always has room for new clients and he offers discounts to DND members. His plans for the future include expanding his grooming business and franchising out to qualified and certified groomers that meet his standards and philosophies.
