Description
Joanne has experienced the positive effects of drumming on the development of music, language, healing, community building and personal development.
Joanne co-faciitates The Regina Drum Circle, teaches at University Extension Life Long Learning Centre, workshops with Qu’Appelle Health Region Caring Hearts Camp, and The Drumming for Growth program for youth in residential care. Workshops, drum circles, and training retreats, for church, school, community, corporate, festivals, and Creative Kids programs. Also, joining with the Conservatory of Performing arts in the fall of 2013.
Founder of Cathedral Village Drum Circle 1996, Chair of major drum events including Heartbeat – Grey Cup 1995,Cathedral Arts Festival Drum Extravaganza, Ba Da Boom, Children’s Festival shows Odyssey and Beauty and the Bog.
Currently performs in The Ghanadians with master drummer Joseph Ashong and husband Victor Tiede. Performed in Skin & Bone, Bandja, Jambalay, and the Tuesday Night Jam, supporting multi-cultural fundraisers for education, women’s health, and aids in Africa, and Cancer research, prevention, and treatment in Saskatchewan. Has studied drumming with traditional drummers from Africa, Cuba, Brazil, and the Middle East and has completed an ORFF and World Music program.
