Description
I consider myself very lucky to have spent my entire career immersed in the arts, both as a visual arts teacher and an artist.
Teaching has been stimulating, rewarding and never ever boring. Each lesson that I have prepared and each project that I have critiqued has motivated and helped me (and hopefully each of my students) to become a better artist.
I have always loved drawing and painting, especially from life, and although I do work from my imagination,(Introspection and Marina are two examples) the majority of my pieces are inspired by my family, friends and familiar places. Because I work in solitude, I also enjoy taking courses and working alongside other artists.
Completing a workshop in portrait painting at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto - see Portrait of Bearded Man - has resulted in a renewed interest in painting in oil.
Recently, I completed a series of street works based on photographs taken on a trip to Scotland and am currently experimenting with more works using my imagination.
