Description
Why Seek Counselling?
We often seek counselling when we experience problematic issues. These issues may become distressing, and may begin to negatively impact our ability to function ‘as usual’. When this happens, we may seek the help of a professional counsellor who will help us to explore our issues and use our own wisdom, strengths and resources to work toward a resolution. In the process, counselling offers us the opportunity to make meaningful change.
Properly understood, seeking counselling is neither a sign of weakness nor an admission of failure. Rather, seeking help is an indication of health and the desire for personal and interpersonal growth.
About Jeffrey Sommer
Jeffrey Sommer, MC, RCC, completed his graduate counselling training in the Master of Counselling Program at ACTS Seminaries, Graduate School of Theological Studies of Trinity Western University in April 2007.
Jeffrey acknowledges our innate need to develop a strong bond and secure connection with at least one significant person in our lives. He practices an attachment-based and emotion-focused approach to working with adult individuals, couples, and families. His goal is to help create a safe space in which you feel supported to explore the issues that have become problematic for you, to help you identify the choices you have to make personally meaningful change, and to help empower you to use your own wisdom, strengths, and resources to transform your experience of relationship with yourself and those who are most important to you.
Jeffrey is registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors: RCC #2997.
